dress.

I am the proud new owner of a dress. It was an Old Navy score at the sweet price of $15! I am not a dress kinda gal, but this is a me kinda dress. HA. I tried to capture myself in the dress, but the mission did not prove expected results. I had a great date with my pup though. He likes being on adventures pretending it's like the good ole days, just me and him. I do too!
Happy Monday!
Happy Autumn!

Tuesday Treasures

It's kinda crazy how when I go out on a mission to find treasures, I can't find a one, but if I'm just wondering around with a dead phone, I find a kajillion! I walked around my treasure store and my phone died a few minutes in, but I kept scoping out the scene anyways. I found so many treasures to capture. Of course, when I returned, they were gone, or unspottable. It's like when you have money and go shopping, you don't find a thing, but when you're just window shopping with an empty pocket, you find a house full. That's ok. It's all in good fun.
a check writer. so glad these aren't still in style.
this is what my day job would consist of.
although this is a better alternative to the credit card imprint machines.

project.

I found a buffet/dresser at the Salvation awhile back. It has been one of my current projects on and off for a little while now. As it is coming to the end of this one, I looked at the label on the back and decided to research the manufacturer. It just so happens to be a piece of Bernhardt furniture. I knew it was well made, but I was rather impressed with their history. They also have collaborated with Martha!

In addition to almost being done with her, I am looking to sell her. This is one of my goals to sell one piece before the end of the year. I plan to finish & photograph tomorrow. Be on the look out for "The After" photo! Happy weekend!

project.

My "get-er done" spirit comes and goes. A prime example of this is this dresser. I started off full force tackle on this dresser and now it's been quite some time since I have touched her. Tuesday evening, I got back on the wagon. More because I'm tired of her sitting in the way collecting tumbleweeds of doggie hair, than I was really in the spirit, but I moved her outside and did another coat on the drawers and spray painted the hardware. I 'm keeping the drawer pulls and canning those teanie tiny knobs on the doors. This is my before. This is the piece that I wish to sell as part of my four goals with Elsie.

I said Sunday I was kicking lazy out the door & I'm sticking to it. I'm planning to finish this lady by this next Sunday. Hopefully rain will not threaten my projections. Rain stopped me in the first place from finishing her because every time I lugged her out, I had to turn around and bring her back in. If she's not good as a piece of furniture, she's great at bringing the rain. Here's to finishing this lady this week. Happy Humpday!

Nautical Americana

I found the most lovely red striped fabric at Joann's and it has thrown my daydream motor into overdrive! I tend to lean towards nautical decor, but after spotting this fabric, along with some old American flags (which I would love to make some throw pillows out of), I want everything red, white, striped, blue, sailboat! I went out on a photo search, via the internets, of course, and couldn't quite find what I was looking for, inspiration wise. Everything was too kitschy, or not quite right. My vision includes red striped curtains, American flag throw pillows, greys & driftwood that make me forget about my "country" blue walls. There is also this framed map at Angel's Antiques that I hope stays hidden until I can afford to pluck it it. I'm thinking blown up photos of the starfish I took on Tybee Island. It really makes me happy that I can't find a room that I am just dying for to fit the bill. It leaves me room to expand & maybe be a tiny bit different.

The closest thing to what I'm looking for is over at the Lettered Cottage. I love their style, but it's not quite mine. I'm thinking more color, Navy & Red. I do love the sailboat, the starfish, the frame on the mirror, the lettered plate, lighting, black door, wall & bench.

This is my daydream for today. Tomorrow is a whole new day to be inspired!

lazy is the name of my game.

As of late, I have no drive to finish, or even touch my current projects, house work and all. My favorite project of all is Treasure Tuesday. It is simply shopping with iphone in hand. It involves leaving home (were the mess ensues) and looking for pretty things. Tomorrow is Monday and a new week starts. The plan for this new week is to kick lazy out the door. As for now, here is a cute pooch.................♥

I Flickr searched "sleep" and "bed" looking for a lush dreamy bed to use as an image for this lazy post, but I came across this sweet baby in a pumpkin bed. I couldn't resist.
Happy. Lazy. Autumn. Adios.

cute.

She was a very sweet lady. If money, space, & time were unlimited, I do believe we'd have about 100 babies running around our home.

Tuesday Treasures

It's Tuesday again! Lets celebrate delightfully warm sunshine with the color yellow as we say good bye to summer. Yellow seems to be catching my eye lately when I'm searching for treasures. Enjoy.

Mostly kitchen wares but very cheery! Have a great week!

happy september.

September is a good month.

nine.

Just a little update on my quilt progress. I am nine squares in after working on it one full week. I am hoping to keep up an average of 2 squares per night. I know I will sit down every night and accomplish two squares, but if I can keep up with the average I'll be happy and unstressed. So far this quilt making has been pleasant. I need a better set up. i have been working standing up in our kitchen with the sewing machine plugged in next to the sink. Our cement floor isn't fun for standing long periods of time. I'm waiting for a kitchen/sewing accident to happen. I have a farm table with the intentions of converting it to a desk and moving it in the bedroom. The downside of that idea, it being another project, it'd steal away more time. So for now I'm making do. The kitchen has plenty of plugs for an iron & a sewing machine. I like the counter space and having the ability to spread out. As far as the assembling of the quilt, I tried to make it as simple as possible for less headache and to keep motivation up. I have a two inch wide acrylic ruler, so I've used two inches as my magical number and just made two inch strips the whole time. It's simple enough with the log cabin route I've chosen. People keep asking me how large my quilt will be. I don't really have a plan. I'm nailing out as many log cabin squares as I can with the amount of fabric I have. A guesstimate is that I've cut off about 1/4 of my fabric to use. I've made nine squares. If I can make 36 squares out of all of the fabric, can lay them out in a 6X6 square top at about 10 inch per square. I will end up with about a 60x60 quilt top with this math. That will cover the top of a queen size bed if you minus the pillow space at top. That is a rather adequate size quilt, but we'll see how it goes.
