February Adventure!

I have to say
I am impresed!
I really liked this park.
It has a summer camp feeling
full of
pedal boats, canoes, picnics, fishing, hiking,
horse-back riding, etc.

Saturday I assigned Adventure Day and set out on 280 for a little two hour drive to the Birmingham (Alabama) area. Along the way, I found a treasure trove, PowderBox General Store in Sylacauga, AL. It is also an antique mall & farmer's market. It front of the store was deceiving, but as you walk back through the store it goes on and on through a few large rooms. It has a little something for everyone. It is the source of my Tuesday Treasures tomorrow. I was glad I stopped and I hope to go back.

Along the way I also stopped at a Walmart and was very impressed. The cashier said "thank you for saving the environment" as I left my plastic bag on the rack. This is the first time a cashier actually appreciated the fact I did not want the stupid plastic bag. Normally, I am met with much resistance. Cashiers either ignore me, argue with me, look at me like I am crazy, or only leave one of my items out of the bag, bagging the rest. It is silly. Thank you sweet lady! You made my day!

I made decent time to the park. It was not hard to find and I plan to go back. I felt it was worth the drive-It makes a good day adventure. I made it to the park at lunch time and ate my apple & lunchable. I am a little kid, and definitely lived up to the summer camp/field trip adventure of it. I ate in the grass next to the water on a mini peninsula pointed out in the water. The weather was perfect. After eating, I hopped in the car, to carry on through the park. At one part, you even have to drive through the water. It was fun.

I went up to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Some of the birds were not available to see, but I get a good view of a little screech owl. He was tucked safely in a birdhouse with his little head peaking out. I loved him. Sadly, I could not get a good photograph through the glass & screen. Believe me, he was cute.

After the center, I continued down the road. I headed up the winding road to the parking for Peavine Falls and onto the trail to get to the waterfall. It was definitely an adventure, down the trail, slippery rocks and around the trees. It was fun. I hung out down by the falls for a while, watched some children splash in the water, and took in all the scenery. It was very peaceful down there, tucked next to the waterfall, the mist in the air. There was tons of moss, ferns & lichen along the way. I loved it.

After taking it all in, I climbed back up and went on my way. Driving back down, I stopped at one of the look out spots. I took a rest on the rocks and looked out over the tree tops.

I came back down, watched some boys canoe across the water, and then sat on the dock over the water among the pedal boats.

So there you have it folks...
Adventure #2 under the belt.

Oak Mountain State Park was an excellent spot for an adventure.
I definitely wish to go back and would recommend it.
It has a little something for everybody.

Hair

September 2010

I have super thick hair that has some kink and curl to it. Normally I tell myself I'm going to let it grow out and it will reach a point and I cut it off every time. To get past that point, I set the goal to grow my hair out to May 2012-My 27th birthday! Here's a shot at the progress.

This was taken this week.
It took almost 2 hours to get it this straight.

Happy Weekend
my friends!

I have an adventure up my sleeve this weekend!

Tuesday Treasures.

This week is has been smoother than last week.
I had a case of the Mondays.
Today, a random old lady hugged me.
I'm taking that as a good sign
and going with it.
Here she goes....

with a splash of red.

Have a good week!

Magic!

I am the new owner of prescription sunglasses.
I am in love.
I can see in the sun!
It's amazing.
I do not use contacts so the sun has always been a killer.

And on Sunday
I wore shorts.
It was delightful!
On Monday
It hit 70.

Thank you Alabama.
Back to normal!
Snow on Thursday,
Shorts on Sunday.
How can you not love it!

Tuesday Treasures.

Hellloooo Tuesday!

You couldn't have come any sooner.
Monday was not all that ideal...
like it ever is.
but
I checked out a booth that I have overlooked all this time

Low & behold!
It was not just full of old car manuals
& model cars...
It was an a treasure trove of 60's automobile advertising!!

This one was my absolute favorite!!
The colors.
The sailboat.
The blue+woodgrain.
The crazy cool characters.

Hop in your Country Cruiser.
Let's go for a sail in the dirt.
I would love to have this blown up
and hung on the wall.

Dear 1960,
You looked fun!
XoXo.
miss money

Call me crazy
but a little something has changed about
the stereotypical Harley owner.
I think they are a little less white picket fence these days.

Some man named Carl
who lived on 147 Tremaine Ave, Buffalo, NY
received Harley advertising
that someone sweetly saved for 50 years!

If only I had a use for them!

Check out the creepy mannequin in the background.
He reminds me of Team America.

Pick the dreamy blue color
& you can be as in love as this couple.

In the 60's station wagons were advertised as fun & dreamy
In our decade,
Herpes is made to look fun & dreamy.
Funny how things have changed.
JK!

hahaha!

Happy Tuesday!
It's not Monday!

PS
These are so much sweeter in real life.
They are still pretty sweet on the internets.
I find myself a little surprised,
but I am rather inspired by these guys.
The 60's normally are not my forte.
It just makes me smile.
I can not get over the Country Cruiser ad!
It's ingrained in my brain.

Holiday Fun!

Hello Love Day!
Valentine's is a fun holiday to decorate for.
You do not have to lug the tree out from the attic or farm.
No ladders to string your gables in lights.

String up some hearts & enjoy!
At least that was my philosophy!

It's a light & airy holiday.
PINK & HEARTS.
easy peasy.

Basically-
I cut hearts out of hot pink felt and threaded them together.
Hung them in the front door and
across the area between the living room and kitchen.
They are the sweetest touch.
I love them.
I did them at our old apartment too.
They became a permanent fixture in the guest bath.

I gifted myself a pink mini rose and
stuck it in an Ikea pot
with some burlap to camoflage they ugly container.
That is in the middle of the dining room table.
It's little.
It works.

I moved a vase of dried roses from atop the fridgie to my shelf/make-do mantle.
You can not tell from this photo
but those frames have Xmas paper still in them.
ha.
They are simple snowflakes.
It still works.

Happy Love Day
my friends
It's never too late to go string yourself up some hearts!

XoXo.

Happy Monday!

happy V day
my friends!

Mr. Composition Notebook.

Mr. Composition Notebook.

I have crafted up a Mr. Composition Notebook every year since 2008. I am on my fourth one. I have yet to give him a pretty makeover for 2011, but I have to say, he is a girl's best friend. I keep notes, recipes, addresses, directions, ideas, sketches, complaints, thoughts, dreams, doodles, inspiration....

It started out as a place to doodle and draw and keep up with inspiration and crafty ideas.
I titled the first one.
CR8.2008.
encouraging myself to
"jump in"
to take a big leap into
.life.crafts.arts.dreams.

the cover.
I have this extraordinary feeling that the cover of the notebook sets the tone of my year.
I take my time to chose a good cover that I know I will love for the entire year.

The composition notebooks are the perfect size for a year.
I normally run very close to the end of the notebook by the end of year.
It's a simple goal to try to make sure it's filled by the year's end.
I find it a great resource for idea collecting and keeping things in one place.
I can look back, see accomplishments and read about good days that I would have other wise forgotten.

It's my Harriet the Spy notebook of sorts.
I am very guilty of sitting in Starbucks and doodling,
and eavesdropping on conversations around me.
I will quote people in there sometimes.

I have kept paintchips in the front cover of each one.
I got fancy in 2009 & made a paint chip pocket.
This was my favorite cover so far.
Nothing has caught my eye this year.

Scrapbook paper has felt very hum-drum,
super boring to me lately.
especially the ones at hobby lobby.
alot of them are very cliche
too themed.

Nothing has said to me
2011. dream big.

There you have it.
Mr. Composition Notebook.
He goes everywhere with me in my bag.
His favorite accessory,

Any suggestions for a 2011 cover!?
I would love some clever ideas.
